Countertop installation across the Austin metro
Our team provides one digital template that drives every cut, delivering tops that sit tight to a wall that has moved for homes and repeatable tolerances across a floor of identical units for both residential and commercial projects. We fabricate in our own Austin shop on our own CNC, and the same crew that laser templates your kitchen is the crew that sets the stone, under a written warranty.
From a single vanity top lifted out and replaced in an occupied bathroom to a whole home stone package staged room by room around a build schedule, our team handles every detail. Serving Austin, West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Barton Creek, Lakeway and Steiner Ranch, we cover the whole area out of one shop, which means the answer to where we work is the same as the answer to who cuts your stone.
How we work
One shop, one crew, the whole metro
Everything is cut in our own Austin shop, which is what keeps the template to install window inside the same week wherever you are. There is no third-party fabricator in the middle and no subcontracted installer on the day.
The measure is free anywhere on this list, and we will tell you on the visit whether your cabinets need anything doing before a stone top goes on them.

Six housing stories
Austin and five communities, with a different job in each
Austin is the county seat of Travis County, incorporated on December 27, 1839, and counted 961,855 residents at the 2020 census inside a five county metro of 2,352,426. None of that decides a countertop. The decade your house went up does.
Across the communities on this page, that is not one decade. West Lake Hills filled in through the 1970s and 1980s. Rollingwood's original streets are 1950s and 1960s ranch houses, a growing number of them replaced by new custom homes. Barton Creek grew from an estate development begun in the mid 1980s. Lakeway carries a resort era layer from the 1970s and 1980s beneath a larger wave built since 2000, and Steiner Ranch was built out by production builders through the 1990s and 2000s.
Read those two ends as kitchens rather than statistics. At the older end the cabinets were set decades ago and have carried weight since, so they are rarely still level or square to the wall behind them. The stone is the easy part. The run underneath is the variable, and you find it by measuring, not by recognising a floor plan.
At the newer end the boxes are factory made, set square at standard depths with standard sink bases, in framing that has had twenty years at most to move. There the work leaves remediation behind and becomes layout: island length, slab yield, where a seam falls, and how far an overhang projects before it needs steel under it. So the first thing we ask is what year the house was finished, not which town it is in.

The escarpment
The escarpment runs through the middle of the service area
Austin sits at the foot of the Balcones Escarpment, on the Colorado River. The fault behind it runs roughly from Del Rio to the Dallas area along Interstate 35, and its surface forms the eastern boundary of the Texas Hill Country and the western boundary of the Texas Coastal Plain. That line runs through this service area.
Travis County straddles it, karst limestone Hill Country to the west, Blackland Prairie to the east. East of the line the ground is heavy clay and loam. West of it the hills are limestone under a thin covering of topsoil.
That is a countertop fact rather than a geology lesson. Clay takes on water and gives it up with the weather, swelling and shrinking as it does, so the slab, the framing and the cabinet run screwed to the wall all move with it. Limestone does far less of that, and two houses of the same age on opposite sides of the escarpment can hand us two different cabinet runs.
It is a reason to measure rather than a diagnosis. We level and shim a run before the laser goes on it, and the template records the wall as it actually runs, bow and all. The five communities on this page lie on the western, limestone side, while a house inside Austin itself can sit on either.
One shop, one crew
How templating, fabrication and delivery work over a metro this spread out
Every job is two visits with a shop in between. We laser template off the cabinets, the file drives the CNC in our own Austin shop, and the crew that took the measurements comes back and sets the stone. Nothing is traced onto cardboard and nothing is cut on your driveway.
That structure is what makes the distances workable. Your kitchen comes to us once as a file, which costs nothing to move, and goes back once as finished stone, which takes care to move. Rollingwood is about three miles west of downtown, Barton Creek about seven, Lakeway sixteen, and Steiner Ranch about eighteen by road to the northwest. The file half is identical for all of them. The stone half takes the planning.
So the approach is surveyed at the template visit, never on install morning: door widths, corner turns, stair runs, and what the driveway does before it reaches the door. West of the city the ground rolls, so a drive can fall away from the road steeply enough that a slab cannot come off the truck on a trolley, and a large estate lot can mean a long carry from wherever the truck is able to stop. A flat drive on level ground usually lets it roll straight in. Where a piece cannot make the trip whole, the layout is redrawn in the shop so the seam lands over a cabinet wall that supports it.

What drives the price
What drives the price of countertop installation near Austin, whichever town you are in
We publish no figures here: no range, no starting number, nothing by the square foot. Stone is sold by the slab and priced by lot, and how much of a slab lands on your cabinets rather than becoming offcut is decided by the template. A number given before anyone has seen the kitchen is either padded to be safe or due to be revised.
Material is the largest single lever, and the spread inside one category is wider than most people expect. Engineered quartz, granite and quartzite sit at different levels, and within any of them a slab varies by colour and movement.
Slab yield is next, and it is not square footage. A long island can push a layout into a second slab while the total area still looks modest, and crossing that line is a step rather than a climb. Piece count matters for the same reason: one island cut whole and one cut in two with a seam are different amounts of fabrication at identical area.
Then the detail. Cutouts, and which kind, since an undermount sink needs a polished reveal all the way round where a drop in does not, while cooktops, faucet holes and air switches add machine time. Edge profile, where an eased edge is the baseline and ogee, bullnose or a mitered build up add passes and material. Thickness. Backsplash height. Support wherever an overhang needs steel under it.
Last, removal and remediation, the one item here that varies by town rather than by taste. Lifting laminate off a newer tract kitchen is quick. Breaking out tile set on a mortar bed is a demolition that often takes the substrate with it. A run that has dropped is shimmed and levelled first. Which of those you have follows from the build era, which is why the free measure comes before the number, and travel inside the service area is not a line on your quote.
The radius
Where we template and install, and how the radius is drawn
The service area is drawn by what a crew can reach from the Austin shop and still return from the same day, and we keep it to Austin and five communities in the hills to its west.
Those five are West Lake Hills, a city of 3.7 square miles that is almost entirely detached houses; Rollingwood, a city of 0.70 square miles about three miles west of downtown; Barton Creek, a census-designated place about seven miles west, named for the creek that runs down to Barton Springs; Lakeway, sixteen miles west beside Lake Travis; and Steiner Ranch, a planned community on a ridge between Lake Travis and Lake Austin, about eighteen miles by road northwest of downtown.
Worth stating plainly, because it is the detail a reader spots instantly: all five are in Travis County, the county Austin is the seat of. Barton Creek and Steiner Ranch are census-designated places rather than cities, so homes there carry Austin mailing addresses.
If your house sits close to one of these but outside it, ask. The measure is free either way, and you will get a plain answer on whether we can reach you.

How scheduling runs
How scheduling runs, from the free measure to the install date
The sequence is the same everywhere on this list. You book a free measure. We look at the kitchen, the cabinets and whatever is on them now, talk through material and slab yield, and send one firm written price. Accept it and you get two dates in writing, a template day and an install day.
Central Texas weather sets the edges of that calendar. Highs reach 90 degrees on about 123 days in an average year, 29 of those reach 100, and the record stands at 112, which is a real handling consideration for a crew carrying several hundred pounds of rigid stone through a doorway.
Winter matters differently. The overnight low reaches or drops below freezing about twelve times a year, the average first and last freeze fall on December 1 and February 15, and roughly every two years an ice storm freezes the roads and stops travel for a day or two. An open kitchen has capped supply lines in it, so those are closed properly rather than left for a freeze to test, and an ice storm is one of the few things that moves a booked install date.
Sunlight is a material question rather than a scheduling one. Austin gets 2,650 hours of bright sunshine a year, about 60 percent of the possible total, and engineered quartz is bound with a polyester resin that is not stable under it. Anything outdoors gets natural stone or porcelain instead.
Questions about working across the Austin metro
Do you charge extra to come out to Steiner Ranch or Barton Creek?
No. The measure is free anywhere in the service area, and travel inside it is not a line on the quote. What changes between towns is the work rather than the mileage: an older kitchen may need levelling and a heavier removal, and a recent build usually needs neither.
I am not in one of the towns listed. Will you still come out?
Possibly. This page names Austin and the five communities we serve west of it, and the real limit is what a crew can reach from the Austin shop and get back from the same day. Give us the address and we will tell you plainly whether it is in range.
Which county am I in, and does it change the job?
West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Barton Creek, Lakeway and Steiner Ranch are all in Travis County, as is most of Austin. For the stone itself the county changes nothing, but we would rather name it correctly.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
Not one that would hold, so we do not try. Slabs are priced by lot, the yield your layout needs is decided at the template, and lifting laminate is a different job from breaking out mortar bed tile. We would rather see the kitchen and send one firm written number.
How long does the whole thing take from measure to install?
Three stages: the measure and the written quote, a template visit once you accept it, then fabrication in our shop and a booked install day. Both dates go in writing with the quote, so you can plan around the gap rather than guess at it.
My house is from the 1980s. Is that harder than a new build?
It usually needs more preparation. Runs that have carried weight for decades are often no longer level and the walls behind them are rarely dead straight, so we shim and level before templating. Finding that at the template costs nothing. Finding it on install day costs a day.
Do you remove and dispose of the old countertops?
Yes, and it is inside the quoted price, along with disconnecting the plumbing and sealing the work area for dust. Tell us at the measure what is on the cabinets now: laminate releases fairly cleanly, and mortar bed tile is a much heavier removal than a bonded stone top.
Who actually does the fabrication and the installation?
We do, both halves. The template is taken with our own equipment, the file drives our own CNC in our own Austin shop, and the crew that measured your kitchen sets the stone. Nothing goes to an outside fabricator or a subcontracted installer.
